Company Audition Information

Vitoria Company Dancers

Company dancers are dancers who are at a professional level. Company schedule is from 9:30 - 2:30 Monday - Thursday and on selected Fridays 10:00-1:00. The companies schedule consists of ballet technique class, contemporary technique class and rehearsals. Company dancers may also take any classes with the trainees along with any classes in the dance school if they wish free of charge. Company dancers receive a performance stipend.

Vitoria Apprentices

Apprentices are entrance level company dancers. Apprentices can take any classes with the trainees or in the dance school free of charge. Apprentices do not pay tuition or receive a performance stipend.

Trainee Program

The trainee program is for students who are at an advanced level and need to continue taking classes, but are ready for professional dance and performance experience. Students take company class every morning along with technique classes in ballet, modern, jazz, lyrical and partnering. Enrichment classes such as music, dance history, and ministry will also be available. Trainees work with the company on a daily basis.

Audition Process

Dancers must be at an intermediate to advance level to audition. Applicants can schedule an audition class at any time during the season by calling 614-551-5423 or by sending an e-mail to Chelsea.VitoriaDance@gmail.com. A head shot and a resume are required. Please prepare a two minute solo that may be presented following your audition class. Dancers may also send an audition video ( see below for requirements) or attend our summer audition June 26, 2010 1:00-2:30.

Video Audition Requirements

Physical auditions are preferred over video auditions. Please make sure your head shot , resume and application are included in your audition package. Incomplete audition packages will not be considered.

Your video or DVD must include the following:

Ballet Barre

Plie, Tendue, degage, rond de jambe, frappe, fondue, ronde de jambe en l’air, and grande battement

Balance in fifth, passé and arabesque

Ballet Center

Adagio

Pirouette from fifth and fourth

Petite allegro

Grande allegro

Modern Center Exercises must include the following

Flat back series filmed from the side

Release swings

Lateral series

One modern floor series

Tilt

Turn series

Jump series

Short Variation

Two minutes or shorter please. No costumes.
